Port Implantation (and Removal)

A port, also known as a port-a-cath, is a system that is surgically implanted under the skin. It is used for the intravenous administration of medication (e.g., for chemotherapy, antibiotic therapy, or parenteral nutrition). Using a port avoids repeated venipunctures, thereby preventing pain, vein irritation, and vascular damage.

Small procedure - big Effect

A port (also known as a port-a-cath) is a small container that is inserted under the skin and allows medication to be administered repeatedly and painlessly directly into the vein without having to insert a new needle each time.

Implant procedure

The procedure usually takes 15 to 30 minutes. Afterwards, you will remain in our recovery room for about an hour for monitoring. In some cases, an X-ray may be necessary before you go home to check the position of the port.

The left arm should be rested for a few days. The stitches usually dissolve on their own after about 10 days.
